Talking points for media on figures just released in the Forestry Corp Sustainability Report for 2021/22 show an increase of 170% in total native forest logging in 2021/22 and  an increase of 270% for woodchips (pulplogs).

Main points:

1.       This 270% increase in pulplogs has nothing to do with solving the shortage of housing and building materials, it is all export woodchips. Within 3 years it will be CO2.

2.       Some of this increase just reflects a return towards “business as usual” after the bushfires.

3.       It shows that the south coast logging industry is more driven by woodchipping than ever.
